Project Overview:
This project focuses on optimizing and upgrading the ozone-based advanced treatment unit at a wastewater treatment plant. The plant has a designed total daily treatment capacity of 40,000 tons, comprising 25,000 tons of textile‑dyestuff wastewater and 15,000 tons of domestic sewage. The primary treatment objectives are decolorization and COD reduction, with the effluent COD required to be lowered from the current level of 26 mg/L to below 20 mg/L.
The existing process uses jet injectors to dose ozone, with three 20 kg/h ozone generators operating continuously. This results in a daily ozone consumption of 1,440 kg, leading to low ozone utilization and high operating costs.
 
Project Conclusion:
This upgrade replaces the conventional jet diffuser with an ultra‑micro/nano bubble generator for ozone injection, and by optimizing the aeration parameters, it significantly enhances ozone mass transfer and reaction efficiency. Operational data show an average ozone savings of 27.69%, translating to a daily reduction of 378.78 kg of ozone and a corresponding daily cost saving of RMB 7,500. Based on year‑round operation, this approach is expected to cut annual ozone dosing expenses by approximately RMB 3 million. Meanwhile, the effluent COD can be consistently maintained below 20 mg/L, successfully achieving the dual objectives of upgrading water quality and reducing operating costs.
